Edventures to Oberammergau 2020
The Passion Play in Oberammergau, a small village located in the Bavarian Alps of Germany, began almost 400 years ago with a promise made to God by its citizens. If God spared them from the devastating plague that was decimating Europe at the time, they would forever perform the Passion of Christ for all who would visit the village to see it. In the time following the promise, only one person succumbed to the Black Death, after thousands had died in the surrounding region just the month before. The residents of this tiny town have honored this miracle by keeping their promise, and the residents have performed the Passion of Christ each decade, uninterrupted since 1634, from May to October. Whether you have just a bit of time, and don't want to miss this incredible event, or want to spend more time exploring World War II history, classical Europe or the romance of Paris, we have a tour for you!
