HMP Cardiff - Cardiff

This adult male facility holds 784 prisoners, ranging from remanded individuals from the local courts to Category 2 and 3 inmates, and Stage 1 and 2 lifers. Cardiff's regime includes full time education, employment in the prison workshops, and training courses. There is a resettlement unit that offers prisoners various offending behavior programs and work based courses, and a Detoxification Unit. The prison also operates an inmate-run restaurant, The Clink Cymru at HMP Cardiff, which opened to the public in September 2012. Over 30 category D prisoners from HMP Prescoed and HMP Cardiff work full-time within the restaurant and train towards gaining nationally recognized qualifications before returning to their retrospective prisons at the end of the working day. Upon their release, The Clink Charity helps graduates find employment within the Welsh catering and hospitality industry.
