Itinerary

Day 1 - (In-flight meals) Your trip begins with a regularly scheduled overnight flight to London aboard an internationally recognized airline.

Day 2 - (In-flight meals, Dinner) Welcome to London! Our representative will make arrangements to get you from the airport to your hotel. It was Samuel Johnson who said anyone “who is tired of London is tired of life itself.” There’s never enough time to take in all the wonders of Europe’s largest city, but you’ll have the chance to scratch the surface in the next few days. The rest of the day today is free for you to relax or begin acquainting yourself with the city. This evening, meet your fellow travelers at an included Welcome Dinner.

Day 3 - (Breakfast) A local guide leads this morning’s sightseeing tour of London by coach. Highlights of the panoramic tour include views of Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey,  Hyde Park, the Big Ben clock tower, the Houses of Parliament, Piccadilly Circus and a stop outside St. James’ Palace, where are posted those stoic red-coated guards. If the timing is right, you may even get to see the world-famous changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. After your sightseeing tour, we journey to Windsor Castle, the centuries-old retreat of Britain’s Royal Family. Led by a Blue Badge Guide, you’ll travel to Windsor for a guided visit to the world’s largest and longest-inhabited castle. Founded by William the Conqueror in 1070, Windsor has been the British Royal Family’s preferred retreat for the past 900 years. Step inside the State Apartments and St. George’s Chapel (closed Sundays), where the Knights of the Garter ceremony takes place. View the exhibit of royal treasures on display within the castle. You’ll then have time to stroll through the town of Windsor before returning to London.

Day 4 - (Breakfast) The day is yours to explore this incredible town. Correctional/Law Enforcement Officials will tour HMP Holloway first thing this morning, before rejoining their companions for the remainder of the day. Try the Southbank Centre Christmas Market, which features 80 traditionally decorated wooden chalets selling a wide range of unique hand-crafted gifts as well as food and drink. Feast on mince pies and mulled wine as you browse the twinkling cabins that line the riverside. This German-style market offers affordable and quirky gifts for family and friends as well as traditional German treats including Glühwein and bratwurst. Or wander through the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew's boutique Christmas market, filled with an assortment of hand-picked, irresistible gifts and tempting treats for foodies. Your travel director will help get you to either, or both, places. Tonight, you may enjoy mingling with Londoners at the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, featuring amusement park rides, ice skating, and other winter delights!

Day 5 - (Breakfast) Today is free to seek out the London sights you’re most interested in. See the treasures at the British Museum, housing an astonishing collection of antiquities, including the Elgin Marbles and the Rosetta Stone. Take in world-renowned works of art at the National Gallery and the Tate Modern. Stroll through Kensington Gardens to view some of London’s most famous statues in winter, or take a walk down memory lane at Pollock’s Toy Museum, an 18th-century townhouse displaying toys from the Victorian era. OR, you can choose to join an optional excursion to Oxford. World-renowned for its astute academia and signature architectural style, Oxford is a town rich with culture. Spend the day here as your local guide takes you on a walking tour of the city, making a stop at Brasenose College, where David Cameron, the current British Prime Minister, once studied. Afterward, enjoy free time to explore their Christmas wares and grab a bite of lunch before transferring back to London (additional excursion fee required).

Compare and contrast two of Britain's most famous churches, whose rich history provide an unparalleled look into the country's past. First, visit St. Paul’s Cathedral, the second largest church building in the United Kingdom and seat of the Bishop of London. The English Baroque-style cathedral is globally renowned for its magnificent dome and glittering mosaics. Continue on to Westminster Abbey, a Gothic church located near the Houses of Parliament.
